The biking from Easy Rider Tours headquarters in Newburyport, Massachusetts is some of the best  in New England. A short loop ride takes in gently rolling back roads, classic 350-year-old  town greens, Colonial and Federal era architecture, pristine beaches and conservation lands, and unassumingly hip small towns!

Easy Rider’s six-day Coasting New England bike tour travels from Newburyport to Kennebunkport, Maine. While images of Kennebunkport are imprinted on the American consciousness thanks to the Bush family’s summer estate, our lovely hometown of Newburyport, MA, isn’t particularly well known outside of New England. With that in mind, we’d like to share a few of the highlights found along our favorite biking loops, all within 15 to 50 miles of Newburyport. All this and more can be seen on our guided and self-guided Coasting New England tours.

The Tannery, where our office is located, is home to a popular Sunday farmers market. Since moving to Newburyport 19 years ago, we’ve seen an explosion of interest in Community Sustainable Agriculture, public land conservation areas, kayaking, biking and birding (with numerous programs sponsored by the nearby Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center and Mass Audubon Visitors Center).

Just across the street is the broad Merrimac River, which fueled the mills of  the industrial revolution. Three miles downstream is the Atlantic Ocean and Plum Island, a long barrier island of marshes and sand dunes. Plum Island is a major bird stopover on the East Coast Flyway, and draws many visitors during the warbler migration.

Save on a Fall Foliage Bike Tour in New England's Berkshires

Fall foliage in New England

Fall in New England is one of those things that you just need to experience by bike in order to truly appreciate the beauty and wonder of the season. Seeing our colorful fall foliage, breathing in the smell of fallen leaves in the crisp fall air, and swooping along perfect biking roads is a thrill for any road cyclist. This year, we're making it a little easier for you to join us for our Autumn in the Berkshires bike tour with a $200/person discount when you book by July 15 (valid only for tours booked between 6/21 and 7/15/12).

The Berkshires tour begins in Great Barrington, MA at the Windflower Inn, located on a beautiful ten-acre country setting. After our warmup spin through the surrounding countryside, we get to know each other over wine and hors d'oeuvres around the hearth back at the inn. And that sets the merry mood for our six-day Western Massachusetts foliage tour. Each night finds us in specially-chosen country inns (Devonfield, pictured below, was once home to Queen Wilhemina of the Netherlands!) and dining at renown local restaurants in Great Barrington, Lee, and Lenox.
